The portal requires a first and last name, asks the user to solve reCAPTCHA, and warns that records for bookings within the last 2 hours will not be available. The research could not manually confirm whether a public IIC profile displays a mugshot because the profile path is protected by reCAPTCHA. For that reason, Los Angeles County jail mugshots should not be promised as a guaranteed public roster field.
The LASD Booking Log is a second official source, but it is not a mugshot gallery. It searches recent station bookings by station, date, and time, with a date range limited to the last 7 days. It can help identify a booking event when a person was just arrested at a station such as Century, Compton, Lancaster, West Hollywood, or another listed LASD station. Results still require reCAPTCHA and manual verification. Booking photos may exist as part of the booking record, but public display depends on the official system or a proper records route.

Where Los Angeles County Photos Appear
A practical Los Angeles County booking photo search uses several official channels, not a single photo feed. Start with LASD IIC for current custody. Use the Booking Log if the arrest is recent and the station and time window are known. Use LASD records routing when the question is a custody record or booking record rather than current location. Use the Los Angeles Superior Court only for the filed case, because LASD states it does not provide final court disposition.

Los Angeles County Mugshot Law
California law makes some arrest and booking information public, but it does not require every Los Angeles County jail mugshot to be posted online. Custody-related CPRA requests may involve booking information, in-custody death records, incarceration records, and inmate records.
The LASD Records and Identification Bureau FAQ gives the fallback for people who need proof of incarceration or release. A requester may call (562) 345-4441 and schedule an in-person pickup after valid identification. LASD may require written authorization, valid ID, notarized materials for representatives, and fees. The FAQ is also clear that court information is not provided by LASD.

How Long Photos Stay Public
The research did not confirm a LASD public retention window for online booking photos. The Booking Log form is limited to the last 7 days, but that limit is a search-window rule for recent station booking events, not a public mugshot retention rule. IIC is built for current custody and warns that new bookings may lag by 2 hours. A person who has been released, transferred to CDCR, moved into federal custody, or detained by ICE may no longer be found through the same Los Angeles County jail roster path.
What is and is not public: Specified arrest and booking information may be public, but medical information, investigative records, juvenile records, restricted photos, and confidential bail-agent records may be withheld or limited.
Removal and Court Outcomes
A Los Angeles County jail mugshot is not proof of guilt. A booking charge can be rejected, amended, reduced, dismissed, or replaced when the prosecutor files the case. For the filed case and later result, search the Los Angeles Superior Court criminal services rather than relying on a custody record. The court changed its criminal name-search process effective February 23, 2024, and no longer includes month/year of birth as a criminal name-search criterion, so common-name searches require extra care.

State prison, federal prison, and ICE detention are separate from LASD custody. CDCR CIRIS focuses on name, CDCR number, age, current location, commitment counties, admission date, and parole hearing data. The BOP locator returns fields such as name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location. ICE ODLS is a detainee locator and does not publish mugshots. A person transferred from Los Angeles County jail to CDCR, BOP, or ICE should be searched in that agency's locator, not the Los Angeles County jail mugshot path.
